Using DPN for Directed Growth of Carbon Nanotubes
Dip Pen Nanolithography® (DPN®) is capable of creating single features or large arrays of carbon nanotubes by depositing metal catalysts, such as cobalt oxide, at precise locations and subsequently exposing the printed catalysts to carbon feedstocks. Carbon nanotubes grown at individual electrically-addressable locations are widely regarded as being ideal for many sensor applications, including sensing of biomolecules. Large arrays of carbon nanotubes generated using DPN also have potential as critical components of field emission devices.
