With Dip Pen Nanolithography®, a patented and proprietary nanofabrication technology that allows for unmatched flexibility and accuracy, and also its high-resolution NanoencryptionT technology, NanoInk is able to offer its pharmaceutical customers innovative solutions to fight counterfeiting and illegal diversion of blockbuster pharmaceutical products. Other key applications include nanoscale additive repair and nanoscale rapid prototyping.

NanoInk is located in the new Illinois Science + Technology Park, in Skokie, Illinois, just north of Chicago. Our location is convenient to public transportation with free on-site parking. We offer competitive salary and benefits including top-tier health coverage, bonus and stock option plan.

NanoInk seeks a Research Scientist with Biotechnology Focus to join its product and process development technical staff. To succeed in this position, the preferred candidate will:

Develop and optimize novel technology for clinical protein quantification/qualification and biomarker verification for pharmaceutical, academic, or clinical research laboratories.

  • Utilize previous hands-on experience with analytical techniques (e.g., immunoassays; ELISA, Biacore or Luminex methods) and employ microarray and nanoarray technology to achieve this objective.
  • Apply knowledge and experience of regulated expression and post-translation modifications, as well as provide informatics support as the company's technical expert in the biotechnology arena.
  • Develop basic competence, within the first 3 months, with NanoInk's Dip Pen Nanolithography® technology for deposition of biomaterials at micro and nano scales on multiple substrates.

Focus broad product development skills on identification, evaluation, and implementation of new technologies/platforms that improve the overall efficiency and accuracy of biotechnology applications (e.g., arrays, diagnostics, sensors, assays, drug discovery).

  • Conduct continuous business intelligence activities to maintain competitive advantage in both commercial and academic market places.
  • Employ expertise in molecular biology and biochemistry (especially of proteins) and working knowledge of protein-small molecule interaction, enzyme inhibitor screening and validating, and receptor-ligand binding assays to minimize development time and risk.
  • Design, execute, and interpret experiments and test programs independently; proactively apply, qualify, and validate new technologies for commercialization.
  • Generate patent disclosures to strengthen the company's portfolio of intellectual property.

Collaborate with the Business Development and Sales/Marketing Teams to formulate plans for commercialization of new products, including design feasibility and scale-up.

  • Represent NanoInk capably, as a technical expert, in interactions with outside customers and vendors.
  • Develop sound understanding of all aspects of NanoInk's current business objectives and operations within the first 3 months.
  • Develop new and expand existing relationships with industry and academic researchers for the purpose of beta-testing new products and applications.
  • Present results of work at external scientific meetings and conferences.
  • Travel domestically and internationally, as required, to advance company business goals.

Ph.D. with postdoctoral and previous assay development experience preferred; must have minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience developing commercial biotechnology applications.

Candidate should be authorized to work in the United States. Candidates with the requisite education and experience should respond by email to resume@nanoink.net and reference RS 0208 in the subject line.
